Swimmers in Pool Lanes
What fees are involved with joining the club?

The Capalaba Swimming Club participation fee is $150.00 first swimmer then $130 subsequent swimmer/s. Discounts available for those who re-sign and early bird. The fee includes a swimming cap, gate fee, 20 weeks swim season and goes towards the generally running of the club.

What is the age requirement to join club?

Club participation is open to any swimmer aged between 5-19 years of age, who can generally swim half a length of a pool unaided.

What are nominations?

Nominations are basically the swimmers choice of swim strokes for the night. For example a swimmer might mark down 25m freestyle, 50m breaststroke, and leave off Butterfly completely if they aren't comfortable in that stroke. The choice is completely up to the swimmer but each swim time is recorded and saved to the swimmers personal record card to compare down the track.
Nominations must be lodged via the SwimTopia App by 5.30pm each Tuesday during the season. Late nominations will result in times not being recorded.

What day of the week are swim nights held?

Club night swims are held each Tuesday starting at 6:30pm. Stroke correction is held from 5:30pm and concludes prior to races commencing.

Is there car parking available?

There is plenty of car parking available on School Road.

What is the swim wear requirement?

While Club swim wear is not compulsory, we would like all swimmers attending carnivals or other events to be identified as club participants. Club colours are blue and red. Club togs can be ordered by speaking to a committee member. A size chart is available here. Prices are Girls/Womens swimwear $70 and Boys/Mens swimwear $50.

Swim caps and goggles can be purchased from the canteen.  Swim Caps are compulsory to be worn in the pool at all times.

Is there food and drinks available?

The canteen is open every Tuesday night and have a variety of hot food, soft drinks, snacks and other assortments for sale.

How does the swimming point system work?

Swimmers will compete against their own times for points based on their club night swims. Points so gained will accumulate throughout the season and will form the basis of improvement trophy allocations at the conclusion of each session.

Points for freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly sprint events will be allocated according to the following schedule:

  • 1 POINT - More than 1.59 seconds slower than the best time

  • 2 POINTS - Between 0.60 and 1.59 seconds slower than best time

  • 3 POINTS - 0.59 seconds either side of best time

  • 5 POINTS - 0.60 & 1.59 seconds faster than the best time

  • 6 POINTS - 1.60 & 2.59 seconds faster than the best time

  • 7 POINTS - 2.60 & 3.59 seconds faster than the best time

  • 8 POINTS - More than 3.59 seconds faster than best time
